Website down on cPanel hosting
On shared cPanel hosting most outages are one of four things: a suspended account, resource limits hit, a PHP error from a recent change, or the host itself. cPanel shows all four.

Is this urgent?
Yes, if the site takes payments or bookings.
Easy fix, no technical skills
Log in to cPanel (usually yourdomain/cpanel or the link in your host's email). A red suspension banner means an unpaid invoice or an abuse notice: pay or reply to the host.
Open Metrics, Resource Usage. If it says limits were reached, a plugin or an attack is using too much. Ask the host to raise limits or find the cause.
Open Metrics, Errors. The newest lines name the file that is failing.
Open Software, Select PHP Version (or MultiPHP Manager). If PHP was changed recently, switch back to the previous version.
If a backup exists under Files, JetBackup or Backup, restore the files from before the problem.
Hand it to your IT person
Copy this into an email or chat. Replace the brackets with the details from your alert.
The site on our cPanel account is down since (time). Please check the account is not suspended, Resource Usage, the Errors log, the PHP version, and restore from backup if a recent change broke it.
Technical fix (commands)
From the cPanel Terminal, check the site answers locally and read the error log.
curl -sI https://example.com tail -n 50 ~/public_html/error_log
If a WordPress plugin is the cause, rename its folder to disable it.
mv ~/public_html/wp-content/plugins/broken-plugin ~/public_html/wp-content/plugins/broken-plugin.off
Check it worked
Reload the site in a private window. Check Metrics, Errors stops growing.
Check whether the site is up with the free tool. All free tools.
Prevent it next time
- Turn on auto-pay for hosting.
- Update plugins one at a time and check the site after each.
- Keep AutoSSL and backups turned on.
