What is a Shared hosting?
Many websites on one server, each paying a few dollars a month.
Shared hosting is where most small business sites live. It is cheap and managed, and the neighbours affect you: one busy site slows the server, one hacked site can draw a block on the shared address.
The host's control panel (usually cPanel) is where certificates, email and backups are managed.
What to do
- Choose a host with a status page and local support hours.
- Ask what the backup schedule is and how to restore.
- Move to a VPS or managed hosting when the site becomes the business.
